The Jly edition of the Castro Art Walk is today with 18 great art exhibits all across the amazing Castro Arts District in San Francisco.  You don’t want to miss it!


The Castro Art Walk is 5 - 8, and some businesses stay even later.

New mural popped up in the Jane Warner Plaza just in time for Pride 🏳️‍🌈 This mural is dedicated to the old song by Sir Elton John “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

#1 Blackbird (2124 Market St):


Blackbird will feature the work of Evan Azher and Peter W Harris.

#2 Schlomer Haus Gallery (2128 Market St):


"Distant Charm," a new solo exhibition from artist Logan T. Sibrel, examines the fragility and allure of selfhood.

#3 The Academy (2166 Market St):

Join us for the monthly Castro Art Walk as we continue our current exhibit entitled Transcending Above—an Exhibition by Marcel, Mila, & Greg

 

The collection is on display in the Showroom on our Main Level (other areas of the club are reserved for members & guests only).  We will have drinks available for purchase.  We hope to see you there!

#4 Flore Dispensary (258 Noe St):


Flore Dispensary will feature the work of Ashleigh Castro

#5 Art House SF (2324 Market St):


Our “Salon de San Francisco” exhibit pays homage to the original 1667 salon-style art exhibit in Paris. 30+ paintings by 10 global contemporary artists are exhibited floor-to-ceiling and on every available inch of space.

#6 2358 MRKT (2358 Market St):


Join us for "Beauty In Progress" for our July exhibition. Showcasing wonderful represented artists and selected works from our collection. We're showcasing creations from Bao Khang Luu, Laura Mitsu, Megan Levine, Avi Ash, Clint Frederic Wiater, Kalie Capadona, and many more.

#7 STRUT (470 Castro St):


For the month of July we are exhibiting the art of TANZA!
Join us Friday, July 5th at 8PM for the art opening reception!
Light snacks, wine, and non alcoholic drinks will be provided! Come for the free wine, stay for the incredible queer art!


This event is from 8 to 10pm.

#8 Blush! Wine Bar (476 Castro St):  


Blush will feature Paintings by Michael Townsend.

#9 Fabulosa Books (489 Castro St):  


Kings, Queens, and In-Betweens; Photography by Randall Whitehead.


Randall Whitehead grew up in Delaware and after graduating college, immediately drove to San Francisco, a city where he'd never been, knew no one, and didn’t have a job. He started as a photojournalist for magazines and newspapers, moving into fine art photography as he documented the people and places of his adopted city. One of his goals is to introduce San Francisco to the rest of the world as the creative center for entertainers from the queer community.

#10 Headprint Studio (4327 18th St):  


Headprint Studio will feature photos by Dawn Harmer.  


Her latest work focuses on a series of conceptual underwater portraits that invite the viewer to question identity when a face is obscured by this space between what is below and what is above the surface.


#12 Poesia (4072 18th St):  


Eric and Annie from 3 Fish Studios will be setting up at local take this weekend to sell their ‘not quite perfect’ prints. Deeeeep discounts on prints that you may not even notice aren’t quite perfect. This only happens once a year!

#13 Welcome Castro (525 Castro St):  


Join us for an art exhibit by Alexander von Wolff


Artist Alexander von Wolff has captured fleeting nostalgia with his art of San Francisco and other locations by recreating artistic relics of the past, giving them new life in the form of large scale printed images.

#14 How It’s Hanging (548 Castro St):  


Join us for an art exhibit featuring these three artists.

#16 Queer Arts Featured (575 Castro St):  


WET PAINT is back, and this time, it’s historically Queer.


Following the first installation of this interactive show last year, the gallery of Queer Arts Featured is again a living canvas, and YOU are a featured artist!

An array of mixed media materials will be provided, and all attendees are invited to let their creativity run wild in this living, evolving communal art piece.

#17 Ruby’s Clay Studio and Gallery (552A Noe St):


Every/day

Exhibition extended – An LGBTQ+ Pride Month group exhibition featuring artworks by Zack Conquer, Joshua Fraioli, Russell Gaillot, Robert Glück, Phil Hung, Shreyas Jayanna, Byron Kim, Claudia McKenzie, Darryl Owens, Mike Roche, and Kent Tool.  This show is all about celebrating the magic of everyday objects and supportive spaces, and how they influence and nurture our individual identities.

#18 MAG Galleries (3931 18th St):  


"GORDAFARID, A Heroine of Resistance.  Works by NILOOFAR ASADI."  Gordafarid is a 11th century, Persian tale of a woman who rescued her people in a timeless message of heroism and defiance.


Asadi creates a modern interpretation of Gordafarid.
